If you or someone you know is struggling, there are a number of mental health and substance use resources that can help.
General mental health supports
Northern BC residents can get help immediately by contacting any one of the following:
- Suicide Crisis Helpline – Call or text 9-8-8.
- 310 Mental Health Support – Call 310-6789 for emotional support, information, and resources specific to mental health.
- 1-800-SUICIDE – Call 1-800-784-2433 if you are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including thoughts of suicide.
- Northern Health Virtual Clinic – Call 1-844-645-7811 for the for access to a family doctor or nurse practitioner, including for mental health needs.
- And if your employer offers an employee assistance program, we encourage you to reach out to those resources, as needed.
Youth mental health supports

Indigenous mental health supports
- KUU-US Crisis Response Service provides culturally-aware crisis support for Indigenous peoples in BC. Call 1-800-588-8717
- Métis Crisis Line – Call 1-833-MetisBC (1-833-638-4722)
- National Indian Residential School Crisis Line provides support for former Residential School students and those affected. You can access emotional and crisis referral services by calling the 24-hour National crisis line: 1-866-925-4419.
Substance use supports
The Alcohol and Drug Information and Referral Service at 1-800-663-1441 can help you find resources and support.
Provincial mental health supports
