Specialty education

Northern Health (NH) is actively engaged in promoting education in specialty areas across our region to ensure safe and quality care, support the development of our staff, and reduce staffing vacancies. Sponsorship for Specialty Education programs is intended to support staff who want to enhance their knowledge and skills for work in specialty units within NH.

Training positions are extra positions in specialty units that support learners to complete full-time specialty programs. Northern Health covers the cost of tuition, textbooks, required travel, as well as working and clinical wages. Upon successful completion, these employees are automatically moved into vacant baseline positions or advance hire lines and become eligible to apply for other positions in the department through the internal schedule change process.
