The Long-term care ward is located within the Haida Gwaii Hospital and Health Centre, the ward has 8 beds. We also have 8 acute care beds on the premises.
There is a common / visiting area with a television, free WiFi and a large dining area.

Haida Gwaii Hospital is 6 acute bed facility with 8 long term care beds. The hospital serves the local population and residents of surrounding villages and isolated forestry camps. Daajing Giids (formerly the Village of Queen Charlotte) is also home to the Haida Gwaii Cancer Care Clinic.
Residents pay 80% of their after tax income, with minimum and maximum rates set by the Ministry of Health Services. This rate covers the standard benefits provided by all long-term care homes. These costs are available on request or in the Long Term Care Home Resident and Family Handbook.
There are typical additional costs not covered by the daily rate.
Basic furniture is provided includes a bed, night table, wardrobe or dresser, and chair. Residents can bring in additional small furniture items such as a bookshelf or TV stand. Residents are encouraged to personalize their room by decorating it with pictures and things of importance.
When possible, resident rooms have a cable connection plus a TV. It is the responsibility of the resident or family to arrange with Telus for a private phone line if desired. Cable and phone costs are the responsibility of the resident.
There is an off-site Adult Day Program available to clients. Activities also include community partners such as choirs, the Living and Learning school and School District 50. The activity calendar runs on a monthly basis and residents are encouraged to suggest activities that they are interested in.
Scooters and electric wheelchairs may be used by clients.
NH has a pet visitation policy. Pets may visit as long as immunizations are up to date, pet is well mannered, on a leash in common areas and family is responsible for cleaning up after pet.
All Northern Health facilities are smoke free. Residents are asked to smoke outside the facility in designated areas.
The facility is staffed 24 hrs / 7 days by nurses. After hours security system alarms all doors of building perimeter.
Families and loved ones are partners in care and are encouraged to visit and participate in many of the day-to-day activities.
During flu season (typically December-March) all visitors need to wear a mask in our facilities if they haven't had a flu shot.
Adequate parking is available.
The facility is within 2 kilometres of all amenities – library, shopping , Post Office, Credit Union, etc.
