Northern Emergency Response Team (NERT)

Working closely with BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) paramedics, NERT ensures patients receive timely, safe, and quality care during transport. The team currently operates using a ground ambulance model and is focused on improving access to advanced care for patients across Northern BC.

NERT is based out of the University Hospital of Northern BC in Prince George.

The team actively supports the emergency department and intensive care unit and is available to respond to emergency calls and patient transfers as needed.

Beyond transportation, NERT provides advanced clinical support to rural care teams, helping deliver specialized care without always requiring a transfer.

As part of its outreach efforts, NERT offers 24/7 real-time virtual advice and mentorship for rural emergency department nurses. Using secure communication technologies, critical care RNs provide evidence-informed guidance and collaborate with local teams to ensure best practices are followed.
