Philosophy of care

Assisted living is independent living with supports. Residents are supported to maintain their independence through hospitality services, therapeutic recreation programs and personal care plans.

Residence is not accredited, but Northern Health is part of an industry self-regulation program (Accreditation Canada)

32 publicly subsidized assisted living units; all are one bedroom suites.

Cost

The monthly charge for publicly subsidized Assisted Living is based on income. Residents pay 70% of their after-tax income, up to a maximum amount. The monthly fee covers rental accommodation, hospitality services, personal care and on-site emergency response system.

Persons receiving disability benefits from the Ministry of Housing and Social Development pay a fixed rate.

Items not included as a part of the monthly fee include: Telephone, cable, hydro, personal laundry, household and toiletry supplies, medications, personal care products and insurance.

  • Wellness programming includes a wide variety of programs to engage residents both within the building and the larger community.
  • All programs are based on therapeutic recreation philosophies intended to meet social, emotional, physical, mental and spiritual needs.

All Northern Health facilities are smoke free. Residents are asked to smoke outside the facility in designated areas.

Our building is kept up for fire safety and you have to use the intercom system to enter the building.
