COVID-19 – Peace Villa Long-term Care facility, Fort St John

Northern Health is implementing enhanced COVID-19 precautions at Peace Villa in Fort St John, following lab confirmation of a single COVID-positive case in a worker at the site. Communication with Peace Villa staff, residents, and families is underway.

Northern Health urges COVID-19 precautions

Northern Health is urging caution as we see COVID-19 activity surging across the province. NH is concerned with the upward trend and frequency of new cases and clusters in the region.

Recent orders in the Fraser Valley issued by Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry to address cases in the Lower Mainland are not currently directed at Northern Health; however, we need your support to avoid more stringent measures. We are encouraging against non-essential travel and are asking people to ensure they are following all of the current orders, guidance, and advice.

COVID-19 – Rotary Manor, Dawson Creek – Update

Ongoing monitoring and testing of staff and residents at Rotary Manor in Dawson Creek has identified additional lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19. NH Medical Health Officers declared a facility outbreak on November 2, 2020 following confirmation of a single lab-confirmed case in a staff member.

Take flu out of the mix – get your flu shot

This year, it’s more important than ever to get a flu shot to protect against the spread of influenza, especially for those at highest risk of illness. There is no COVID-19 vaccine yet, but we do have influenza vaccines. We can take influenza out of the mix.

Prince George COVID-19 collection centre – new location

Northern Health’s Prince George COVID-19 testing collection centre is moving to a new location in Parkwood Place Shopping Centre.

To date, COVID-19 testing has been available at the Prince George Urgent and Primary Care Centre, #143 Parkwood Place, 1600 15th Avenue. Effective Wednesday October 14, 2020, the new location will be #175-1600 15th Ave (near the Cineplex theatre).

The new testing location will allow for appointment-based testing to be available seven days per week, from 8 am to 4 pm. 

COVID-19 exposure – Prince George

Northern Health is advising anyone who used the services of Prince George Taxi on October 2nd or 3rd, between the (overnight) hours of 6  pm to 6 am, that they may have been exposed to COVID-19.

Public health officials are asking people who traveled by PG Taxi during this time period, to take extra care to self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 until October 17th (14 days from the last date of possible exposure). Public health contact tracing is underway and, where possible, NH is reaching out directly to individuals who have been exposed.
