Welcome to the Northern Health Seniors Care Facility Inspection Website

Licensing officers carry out inspections of adult care facilities in Northern Health. Facilities are inspected regularly to ensure compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act and the Residential Care Regulations to determine if health and safety requirements are being followed with respect to policies, staffing, resident care, building requirements and others. In addition, Licensing Officers respond to complaints, allegations of abuse, and reportable incidents.

An inspection report is provided to the facility after each inspection.  The inspection report provides the licensee with information regarding the regulatory requirements that are not met, and for these, states corrective actions and a corrective date to address outstanding concerns.  Inspection findings are coded into eight categories which include Physical Facility, Equipment and Furnishings, Hygiene and Communicable Disease Control, Staffing, Policies and Procedures, Records and Reporting, Care and Supervision, Food Services and Nutrition and Medication. For a complete description of these categories go to Inspection codes.

Inspection reports are provided to the care facility and are maintained at the Community Care Licensing offices. We retain both electronic and paper copies of these documents.

While every effort is made to keep the information up-to-date and ensure that it is accurate, there may be a time delay between the time of inspection and posting to the web page.  The web site is updated monthly.

Visitors to this site are cautioned against interpreting the status of a particular facility based solely on the inspection. Visitors are encouraged to browse the history of the facilities and do other research such as contacting the facility before arriving at any conclusions. This web site has been designed to convey similar information to the general public as they would receive through a request under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act of B.C.

Posted inspection reports will not

  • recommend a facility to you;
  • rank or rate homes against one another;
  • issue a report card that grades facilities on their current status in meeting the current regulations.
  • provide information on  complaints
  • provide information on inspections that are not routine inspections

Northern Health has only just started the practice of posting inspection results and are posting inspections of facilities which provide care to seniors starting on April 1, 2008.  There were three senior's residential care facilities whose last routine inspection and follow up inspection predated April 1, 2008 and so we have provided a summary report.  This is a summary of a historical record and therefore may differ in format from the inspection record held by the licensee and other inspections posted on this site.

Dunrovin Park Lodge, Acropolis Manor, Kitimat Multi Level Care

No inspections prior to this date are available on this site however you may request a copy of inspections prior to this date through the Freedom of Information process. If you have any questions about a particular facility please let us know by contacting a Public Health Protection office near you
